This system, the Internet Referral Information System (IRIS), provided the first practical solution to integrating any number of independent providers into a single clinical rule-based referral system. The unique design of the IRIS technology allows clients to adopt existing rules, modify existing rules, or define new rules to fit their needs, while providing an easy-to-use solution that requires no additional infrastructure investment.

Today, Proximare Health offers a Web based referral service based on the IRIS technology. The service offers a breakthrough in cost and provides immediate access to all of the IRIS technology and the clinical rules library at no charge. As a shared resource, the monthly availability fee is lower than the normal costs of technical staffing required to run a dedicated web based referral system. The Referral Information Services (RISE) allows any group of providers to avoid costly investments in hardware and software while optimizing a neglected part of the healthcare process.
